It Had To Be You! (Parts 3 and 4)

(If you haven't read parts 1 and 2, then read them before reading this!) Thank you :) Have a good read!

Part 3

It was Monica. Tears rolled down his eyes when he saw her. He went to her and greeted her. Monica got a little emotional too, as she was seeing him after a long time and hugged him tightly. Both of them still saw each other like they were still those young lads in college. They sat together on those beach chairs and talked about different things. Monica even introduced her daughter, Ginny. She was a single mother, so she had to take care of Ginny all by herself.

Suddenly, Fred asked her, “Where were you this whole time? Why didn’t you get in touch with me?”

Monica replied, “I didn’t contact you because I thought you were angry and got a little scared. When a few days passed, I came to your place but you weren’t there so I thought you must have moved away from our hometown Liverpool. I tried searching for you on social media platforms but couldn’t find you there. So, I lost hope and gave up on finding you praying that someday miraculously, I’d find you, and here we are today!”

Fred was convinced by her answer and they continued to chat. They didn’t realize that it was evening already, so Monica invited him for dinner. So, they went to this nice place on the mountaintop which overlooked the city on one side and the sea on the other. The air was warm, the stars were twinkling and it was peaceful. They chatted and chatted and chatted for hours, even after they had finished eating, and then eventually, they were asked to leave at like 2 a.m. They continued laughing and strolled along the beach and the air felt so magical! They talked about the old times and caught up on the new times.

Fred’s 5-day vacation was one of the best vacations he ever had. He spent most of his time with Monica. He had a silly grin on his face the whole day. As his vacation came to an end, they exchanged numbers and all the good stuff. Fred returned to his home back in London and carried on with his life. He and Monica were in constant touch and updated each other about their lives.

Once, Fred went back to his hometown back in Liverpool to visit his old place. When he got there, it was quite nostalgic for him as he had spent his entire childhood there. He went to his old house and it was the same just as it was when he moved out from there, just spider webs and heaps of dust on every possible thing there. He saw that there were some letters in the mailbox, but there was an unusual letter that stood out amongst them. It was wrapped in pink-colored paper. It was written by Monica about a year ago.

He opened the letter and it said….

Part 4

He opened the letter and it said,….

My dear Fred,

I don’t know if you will receive this letter or not, but I am still writing this. I’ll get straight to the point because if I don’t say what I have to say, then I’d regret it for my entire life.

Today, I love you more than ever, tomorrow I will love you even more. I need you more than ever, I want you more than ever. I know I am sounding like a teenager in love asking desperately for it, asking you to give me a chance and love me back. Fred, I love you with all of my heart, I have always loved you even when we were kids when we celebrated birthdays, studied and played together, when you were that lost and confused boy, when we fought, I loved you through it all. I was just scared to tell you all this time. The one time I had gathered the courage to tell you about it, you preferred to go with Harry and it broke all of my hopes. I was angry and I swore that I won’t talk to you again. But after some days passed, I started to miss you and I regretted not forgiving you and wanted to come back to you and say sorry, but when I got to your home, it was locked. I was heartbroken. I was too hard on myself and never forgave myself for not communicating. Please forgive me and accept my love.

Make me the happiest person on this earth by being with me. I love you.

Please reply when you get this letter.

Forever yours,

Monica.

Fred read that letter for like the hundredth time, folded it, kept it inside the envelope and properly kept it inside his coat, and rushed to the airport. He took the earliest possible flight to Cardiff, Wales where Monica lived. When he reached her house, his heart skipped a beat, his stomach was doing somersaults, and he was sweating. He rang the doorbell and Monica opened it. Without saying anything, he took the pink letter out of his pocket. All they could do was look at each other. And smile. There was this weird silence between them. It was like the world stopped turning around them. The silence was magical. Fred gently hugged her with her head resting on his heart and Monica felt the warmth of the hug as if she was wrapped in a blanket. Her favorite blanket!
